Remedios Amaya - “Rompiendo el silencio” - 2016
This is the story of a record told in three "silencios": of cantaora Remedios Amaya, who spent thirteen years away from the microphones; of producer Fernando Vacas, who sought to record the silence in a church; and of the album itself, which broke its silence with a candidacy for the 2016 Latin Grammys.
This album has been recorded in the Magdalena Church in the city of Cordoba, achieving a distinguished atmosphere and a sound that surprises with the nakedness in the production of the songs.
Instruments such as the piano, the harp or the flute, accompany and merge with the impressive voice of Remedios, creating a unique atmosphere and magic.
The repertoire of this album is a minimalist interpretation of classical themes such as En un rincón del Alma ( Alberto Cortez), Las Ciudades (José Alfredo), Sin ti no puedo vivir (Carlos Cano), Si a veces hablo de ti (Manuel Alejandro), Angelitos Negros (Antonio Machín) or Tu tenías veinte años (Mª Dolores Pradera), among others.
This was made possible thanks to Fernando Vacas, musician and producer of the album, in addition to having had luxury collaborations such as Cuban pianist Iván “Melón” Lewis, saxophonist/flutist Jorge Pardo, flamenco guitarist Diego del Morao or harpist Maite García Donet.
